Who is presenting:

Foster & Partners

  • The new Mexico City Airport posed an array of interesting challenges in terms of scale, complexity, site conditions, structure and planning requirements. The Applied Research + Development group at Foster + Partners will showcase how these challenges were tackled by the use of computational methods. The focus will be on the process of generating the roof geometry, which involves the application of methods such as dynamic relaxation, mesh smoothing and various bespoke geometry-manipulation techniques, all tied together in an parametric workflow.

Gabriele Sorrento from Mindesk VR - CAD ♥ VR - disrupting design workflows with virtual reality

  • In its first public event, award-winning startup Mindesk presents an unprecedented virtual reality interface for 3D design, the first in the world to be natively integrated with your CAD software. An open talk with CEO Gabriele Sorrento addressed to architects, engineers and designers to discuss the imminent disruption of 3D modeling and design tools, a revolution you've been waiting for too long. Live demonstration available.

Francesc Salla from Asuni - VisualARQ integration with Grasshopper

  • Francesc Salla, the VisualARQ product Manager will show the different Grasshopper tools for VisualARQ, including the VisualARQ Grasshopper Components and how to generate VisualARQ objects from Grasshopper definitions, new feature of the upcoming VisualARQ 2.0 version.

Andrew Carmichael from CHAM - RhinoCFD

  • Andrew Carmichael, Engineering Manager at CHAM will present RhinoCFD, the first computational fluid dynamics plugin for Rhino. He will outline the types of uses it can have for AEC such as external flow around buildings and facades, internal flow with multiple heat sources, fire and smoke modelling… The plugin is based on a commercial CFD code, PHOENICS, and combines all its strengths with an integrated solution for Rhino. It will also form the basis of GrasshopperCFD, which is likely to be available for Rhino6/Grasshopper 2.

Daniel Piker - Kangaroo v2

  • Kangaroo is a Live Physics engine for interactive simulation, form-finding, optimization and constraint solving. Daniel, the developer of Kangaroo, will update us on what's new and what's coming for Kangaroo v2.
